SBS, ABC and Ten have gone for me. As I set up the epg using freeview, I checked the guide online. Channels not showing up there either. It would be useful to be able to manually add channels when setting up the dvr as the channel won’t map at all without an epg reference
I had a similar issue in SE QLD. I was using Sunshine Coast Freeview EPG and changed it to Brisbane Freeview and all has been restored. Just no local channels in the mix.
Thinking about giving it a go rather than paying a monthly subscription for IceTV that Plex recommends. I’m somewhat annoyed as a lifetime pass holder that they change the way EPG works and try to push us on to a paid subscription.
Hi Schtevo_66,
I am also a lifetime pass holder.
It works ok. Setup is easy enough. Just point to the link they send you via email. Info is not as extensive. I actually think the problem is with Freeview because their online EPG is not complete either. Actually I have done what SE56 did and point to Brisbaneu using Freeview… Pity one has to connect to an EPG to be able to save the channels. Even if we were able to have a blank EPG on a channel it would be better than now. I live in hope! Give freepd.tv a go. It is easy enough to try.
Yes, exactly the same result, all SBS channels missing, the same as freeview. I did sign up for the 30 day trial of IceTV, and they are missing SBS as well.
My tuner sees the SBS channels no worries, so I agree having ability to manually enter a channel even without guide would be helpful.
Where are you located? It seems to be a regional thing, if I set it to Sydney I get SBS (but not the local Newcastle channels) but SBS is missing in the Newcastle channels. (with both IceTV and Freepg)
This really needs option to manually enter a channel, even without a guide it’s better than not having it
Why cant Plex use the EIT (Event Information Table) that is included into the digital video stream broadcasted in parallel with the video/audio data like Mythtv does? or have this as a fall back for when the downloaded guide fails like in this case
i used mythtv for 8 plus years and never had an issue with the guide, in a perfecti would love to use mythtv as my dvr backend and plex as my frontend.
its annoying that i’ve paid for a life time plex pass and now i cant even get a stable tv guide and are expected to pay for another subscription to icetv for the guide when there is a perfectly good guide being transmitted with the signal that i’m currently tuned too
Those south of Queensland, you might want to try ‘Victoria - Ballarat’ - for me this provides all bar one (radio) channel again… doesn’t look like Plex want to enable channels without an EPG and it (the app) is certainly not smart enough to get the current/next from the tuner even if available.
I’m also quite annoyed with this situation, I’m at the tipping end of my free Plex + Tidal trial and overall very happy with my side by side comparison vs MediaPortal…but this TV guide thing…I was planning to save on IceTV subscription and use the native Plex capability with my very expressive new subscription, but the
Australian Plex guide is crap, is failing with most of my recordings, etc…now I learn the only way to make it work is to keep paying +$3.5 dollars to IceTV ON TOP of my subscription??? This is not right, something needs to be fixed here…I think PLEX should be giving us a discounted subscription for these kind of cases where obviously they can’t provide a quantity service for something they are charging for…no?
Well my 30 day trial of IceTV expired so I did the remove and reinstall tuner thing (why, oh why can’t we just change EPG provider without reinstalling the whole thing) to try Gracenote again,
It seems Gracenote has fixed the problem now, all channels working for me in Newcastle NSW.
