A new issue has manifested with my server over the last few weeks which I’ve never had.
Some movie files have stopped being recognised and catalogued by the media server.
I have historically always stored my files as
/Movies
//Movie Name
///Movie.Name.Year.Resolution.filetype
And this has worked consistently and still works on my main storage HDD
I have since added a larger, faster HDD which is used for 4k files and was working but now doesn’t detected files nested in the above format.
THere doesn’t seem to be an issue with names because when I store it as:
/movie name (year)
/movie name (year) (extra information).ext
/movie name (year) (extra information).eng.srt
/movie name (year) (extra information)-poster.ext
The year is almost required now since there are so many remakes…
If you want the information ignored then put it in square brackets [ ]
But I just group it with ( )… works like a charm…
and you don’t want the year ignored…
I tried adding the year with one of my video files and unfortunately was still not detected.
Currently it looks like:
/Movies
//Movie name (year)
///movie.name.year.format {folder}
////movie.name.year.format {file}
Changing movie scanner to Plex video files finds all files but this is not preferable as it matches inaccurately for me.
Primarily this is just to keep my file system organised. I’m just unsure as to why it’s randomly stopped working when it worked fine before?
