Hi I’m havingproblems with some movie files not being added to my library despite following all the naming advice, even adding the imdb no doesnt seem to work
here is an example
Movies/
Blood Of Ghastly Horror (1967) { tmdb-122677 }/
Blood Of Ghastly Horror (1967) { tmdb-122677 }.avi
any help appreciated
“not added to your library” as in the files aren’t catalogued at all or they won’t get any metadata?
While the folder structure implies this… are you adding those files to a movie-type library?
What scanner/agent have you configured for that library (see the library’s Advanced tab)?
To add to what Tom is saying can you Plex Dance the movie and then upload a copy of your server logs ?
Hi,
the files aren’t cataloged at all, and yes my movies folder contains a lot of movie files all in individual folders and have not had any issues with 97% of them. I have tied useing different scanner/agents but with no luck.
Hi
I have tried the plex dance but no luck there either, I gonna be honest and say I’m not sure how to find the server logs.
Ok so ifollowed the link to download the log which i did after the plex dance
Plex Media Server Logs_2024-12-05_19-17-02.zip (5.4 MB)
Thanks in advance
It looks like Plex has catalogued this movie. In your logs, Plex is skipping over this folder, noting that nothing has changed.
What do you find if you switch your library to Folder mode and navigate to the D:\Movies\Blood Of Ghastly Horror (1967) DVDRip XviD-FiCO? I suspect, Plex will show you a different movie and Plex having merged the file you expect with some other movie.
Alternatively you could filter your library By Duplicates to find (other) items that have multiple files associated to them.
I would recommend you put that technical jibber jabber into a set of square brackets to avoid Plex mixing this as part of the movie title when scanning.
If you need that information, name the folder e.g. D:\Movies\Blood Of Ghastly Horror (1967) [DVDRip XviD-FiCO].
So I am seeing:
Dec 05, 2024 19:13:15.043 [7564] DEBUG - Scanner: Processing directory D:\Movies\Blood Of Ghastly Horror (1967) DVDRip XviD-FiCO (parent: no)

This tells me a couple of things:
- Plex is seeing the movie
- Not sure if that
Filesystem errorwas part of the Plex Dance or not - You did not perform the Plex Dance correctly, every step must be performed in the exact order provided, and you must complete the step completely.
- your naming could use a bit of work.
**D:\Movies\Blood Of Ghastly Horror (1967) { tmdb-122677 }\Blood Of Ghastly Horror (1967) {tmdb-122677}.avishould be:
** `D:\Movies\Blood Of Ghastly Horror (1967) {tmdb-122677}\Blood Of Ghastly Horror (1967).avi1
** many other video files have really bad naming schema - I suspect as tom said you are dealing with files that Plex either cant access correctly or that are being merged as a duplicate.
Hi,
Thanks so much for your help, I did manage to get a couple of missing movies to turn up by deleting the entire library the adding it again. The folder view and the duplicate tips are going to be helpfull.
I really need to tidy up my drive and filenames etc
thanks again will update you when ive sorted it out
