Scanner won't add extras even if named correctly

My server won’t add any “local extras”. I have combed the forums looking for support help, reread the naming guides, done the “plex dance”, etc. But the scanner just ignores the files.

Here is a log sample:

Feb 14, 2019 00:33:46.669 [10984] DEBUG - * Scanning directory M:\Shares\MKV\Music\Wilco Live - Ashes of American Flags (2009) (parent: yes)

Feb 14, 2019 00:33:46.699 [10984] DEBUG - No match for hash.

As you can see it sees both files in the directory, “adds it to the scanner”, and then says “directory had 1 files”, ignoring the -scene.mkv file.

I double checked the movie with “get info” and looking at the xml file, the extras are simply not listed.

I’ve tried using Scenes folder, renaming the file to anything I can think of - nothing helps. (Also: as far as I can tell this problem applies to every single movie in my system, no extras are shown at all.)

Help!

Music videos or concerts often cannot be “matched”. Which means the item then still has no metadata agent assigned.
But if it doesn’t have a metadata agent assigned, it cannot use the Local Media Assets agent, which is taking care of all the local assets, such as extras and sidecar subtitles, posters etc.pp.

Make sure that the library to which you added this folder
has
Scanner = ‘Plex Movie Scanner’
Agent = ‘Personal Video’ or ‘The Movie Database’
in its properties (edit the library, go the ‘Advanced’ tab)

(If you are using ‘The Movie Database’ as the default agent, you must match all items manually to the ‘Personal Media’ agent, which aren’t listed at https://www.themoviedb.org/ and which haven’t been matched yet.)

Make sure that the line ‘Local Media Assets’ has a checkmark in front of it under
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Personal Media
and
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - The Movie Database

This movie was matched just fine (even though it’s a concert film.) I am using scanner=“Plex Movie Scanner” and agent=“Plex Movie”. Should I avoid the “Plex Movie” agent?

Anyway it turned out I had a couple of boxes unchecked in the “Plex Movie” settings, including “Local media assets” - checking that did the trick.

Thanks!!

If it works for you, use it.
Just keep my recommendation in mind for those cases when it doesn’t.
