It would be nice if the DVR had the ability to schedule shows that aren’t in the guide yet, kind of like a wish list of recordings. There are several shows/movies that I’d like to record but I’m not always watching the guide to see if they are on. With this feature, you could basically set it and forget it and then one day see the recording show up in your library.
Agreed. This is a limitation on nearly every platform, including most modern cable boxes I’ve seen. They feed in series recording data by matching the xml tags of a show visible in the episode guide. I think there would be some clever ways around this even if it was building a wishlist that acts like an ongoing fuzzy search on new episode guide data, such that when it returns a hit you get an email/notification that your show may be available to record.
It’s been a pain to convert from NextPVR as it takes nearly a year to wait for all of the shows to actually hit the episode guide, particularly on shows that don’t show re-runs that you can latch on to (Rick & Morty and Atlanta to name a few).
