Scheduled Tasks running outside of specified times

Server Version#: 1.41.1.9057

I have configured the server to run scheduled tasks overnight, between 12 am and 10 am.

I have also configured under Library for the scanning features to run as scheduled tasks (in addition to when added)

But I see Plex performing voice activity scanning and other tasks outside of that window on older media that were not just added.

I see other posts from 2021 stating the same thing, but there was no response before the post was closed. So, I’m bringing it up again now as it’s still happening.

Any chance you manually analyzed the files? That will kick off voice activity detection.

Also, how far outside the window? If Plex is analyzing a file when the window closes, it will still finish analyzing that file.

I stop the schedule at 10 am and I’ve seen stuff running at 4 pm.

I didn’t manually trigger analyzing any files.

I’ll watch for it to happen again and try to catch some logs or something

If you care to dig into the log files…

You can look in Plex Media Server.log and rollovers, .1 to .5.

Scheduled Tasks are referred to as Butler Tasks in the log files.

You can see when the window opens:

Checking that a file has been analyzed. This movie has already been analyzed (notice the analysis takes less than two seconds). If it had not, there would be additional entries and it would have taken minutes, not seconds, to analyze the file (exact duration depends on length of movie and CPU speed).
