Pretty sure both Jellyfin and Emby have this already where you log in to Schedules Direct and pick from your lineups.
@anothername Schedules Direct is only licensed to provide data to open source / non-commercial apps. Using SD with Plex (or Emby) is a violation of the SD terms of service.
Gracenote, the SD data source is in the B2B business. They’re willing to let hobbyists play, but don’t want to cut into their core business. Please respect our license terms. The predecessor to SD was shut down partly because of commercial use. We don’t want the same thing to happen to us.

So importing data into Plex via xml that has been collected from SD is against their terms? So if i use https://github.com/XMLTV/xmltv or similar with my paid subscription to SD to get my EPG data and then import that into Plex I am breaking terms?
Yes. What matters is how the data is used, not the method used to get it. There are many approved applications that use the XMLTV project grabbers.
When you provide raw data misuse is hard to detect or enforce. That’s why we ask nicely. 
The copyright holder wants to deal with Plex directly. That’s their prerogative and nothing we can control.
I think I read Plex is in the progress of moving back to Gracenote. If that’s the case, data purchased through Plex should improve.
