Scripts in Synology for DSM 7 release

I’ve successfully installed and am running the latest PMS for Synology DSM7.

Where do DVR post-processing scripts go in this version. In the settings / DVR page, Plex says they need to go into “/volume1/@apphome/PlexMediaServer/Plex Media Server/Scripts”

But when I ssh into the Synology as an admin user, I do not have permissions to see or edit this directory because of DSM 7 permissions / security changes.

Thanks for your help!

Server Version#: 1.23.4.4712

You must be user PlexMediaServer
-or-
root but set final permissions to PlexMediaServer

Does PlexMediaServer user have a password? Not sure how to change it, as I can’t figure out how to view/edit internal users from DSM 7 control panel… Thanks for your help!

PlexMediaServer is not a real username.

DSM 7 understands it when you chown PlexMediaServer:PlexMediaServer dir/file

That’s it.

If you try to force it to be a “Local User”, you will break PMS.

DSM 7 does not allow editing of “System Internal Users” because they are “Service/Application” accounts.

This is how much stricter DSM 7 has become.

(you can use the NAS on the command line – if you can type with your hands tied behind your back  )

DSM 7 is an Entirely New Platform. Almost nothing except the GUI and shared folders is new.

Got it. Thank you. I think I can ssh into the Synology, change to root, copy the script to the proper directory, and then chown as you suggest…
