Seems that at some point in the last week it remapped to Scrubs in the metadata that plex uses which is causing problems with having both as they are literally called the same thing but are separate shows as this is not being considered a season 10 by anyone. So now season one episodes have two files from two different folders. How can I fix this? Why the change that doesnt seem in line with how other instances of a reboot have worked? Why the change in the last week?
I created folders for these two shows in my Testing library and, at least initially, they are showing up as separate shows.
You might trying adding tmdb hints to help Plex keep them distinct.
Scrubs (2001) {tmdb-4556}
Scrubs (2026) (tmdb-295778}
Probably will need to do a Plex Dance also.
I did see that putting the id in the folder name was an option now (dont know if this was always a thing ive been a long time user but never tried to hard) I am gonna give this a shot. Thanks for reminding me of this.
Yup that worked. Notably when doing the search in plex it will now show three scrubs show. The original which i have, Scrubs (2026) which i now have due to your help, and Scrubs (but with the art for the new show) that i do not have. Seems like there is a metadata mismatch on plexâs end. but this works thanks again!
Did you just rename them or did you rename and do the plex dance? The Plex dance will clean up the database and remove any Scrubs metadata. Sounds like you might have some of the old metadata from when the two shows were combined
Oh, wait, I see what youâre saying. Searching on watch.plex.tv shows 3 Scrubs. 2 for 2001 and 1 for 2026. Yeah, something is goofed up on the Plex backend
Yeah, the option to place the tvdb/tmdb/imdb id into a folder name has been around for a while, at least since I started using it at end of 201X. You can also search using the same string (such as âtvdb-PASTE_TVDB_ID_HEREâ) in the match/fix match dialog box to get just the result you want.
It looks like the second 2001 show âScrubs (2001)â with modern artwork is a duplicate of the âScrubs (2026)â show, it has 10 episodes of the same names as the new show.
If I knew how to look, Iâd bet that TMDB or TVDB - for the new show - probably has a link to the old show in their metadata somewhere, that caused Plex to scrape and create a duplicate entry and get royally screwed.
I looked on TMDB and It seemed to have the correct TVDB IDs. What is odd is TMDB has an extra episode and it is throwing of the episode numbering of the episodes after it
Even after i did the plex dance it pulled the metadata - but was locked to tvdb (dvd) which it also denoted didnât exist - i would be interested in what you guys see on your instances
I removed both of them from my file directory and then added the new scrubs with the tmdb hit on the file name and made sure that was matched to the correct 2026 one and then i added the old scrubs, again with tmbd hint on file name and that seems to have done the job, for how long though who knows.
I didnât need to add the TMDB to my folders. All I had to do was go to Scrubs in the Library and select the âSplit Apartâ option. From there, I just used the âFix Matchâ option, and it fixed it in my library.
scrubs 2026 was working fine in plex at least until the 23 march
until s01e06
suddenly the whole show is gone
plex just shows it as âThere are no locations currently available for this title.â
this just gave me an error and nothing has changed
this is the go it seems, just pull scrubs (2026) from your drive and re-add
sorry to spam
This happened to me a few days ago and I thought that renaming the original show folder to âScrubs (2001)â would prevent this, but it didnât. Manually splitting them apart doesnât retain the original watch activity for the 2026 episodes, which is pretty annoying. Iâd also prefer to avoid re-adding the shows since itâll mess up the recently added section
Just noticed this as well, the Plex Dance fixed it.
I got around it by shifting Scrubs 2026 to âScrubs {tvmaze-84836}â to differentiate it and rescanned.
Thanks to this topic I checked my library, and despite having the folder named âScrubs (2026) {tvdb-465690}â and it having been matched correctly previously, Plex had for some reason changed the match to the 2001 series. I donât have the 2001 series in my library, so this was an inexplicable change.
Plex has no support for TV Maze. So this will not serve as a âmatching hintâ in Plex.
