Apologies If this is answered elsewhere, Is there a way to search for movies and shows in my local media without having to hold the centre button and wait for the menu to show ? I would much prefer to select search from the top of the menu bar, instead of "more" for example, is this possible ?
Using themes (e.g. Cyberghost github) there is a search option. Haven’t been on stock plexconnect in a bit.
Depends on you selected "view". In List view, there is generally a "Search" item in the list. In Grid/Bookcase style, you have to do the "Select&Hold" thing...
Ok, thanks guys, is there a reason it can’t be available in grid view like it is in the list view ? (I find grid view visually more appealing)
I can live without it ! But someone like my wife for instance is used to how most of the other apps works on the Apple TV by selecting search from the top/side menu, In my option it’s a little more user friendly.
Yep, here is the history...
- In the beginning, we had the Search option in the top row, basically between Channels and Settings. At that time PlexConnect only supported one PMS. It was quite easy to decide where the Search request had to go to... :-)
- Then multiple PMSs got supported, along with myPlex and remote access. The Search option, currently only able to talk to one PMS at a time, couldn't live up there any longer. It moved down to the Sections list, we only had List view at that time.
- Later the Grid/Bookcase view was introduced, basically following the new "themed" versions slowly. At first, this was just the same list as the List view, giving you the option to Search as well - but with PMS not providing an icon for that, it looked kind of stupid.
- So - and here we are now - that non-thumbnail got removed and pushed into the Select&Hold menu, in order to not hurt my eyes... :-D

ha ha ok, well like I said it's not a huge problem for me, at least there is a search function via select and hold than no search at all !
Keep up the great work, I've introduced a few friends to plexconnect who had pretty much given up on their apple tv's, now they use them everyday !!!
