The best case use for this is Christmas Playlists. I can set the a tag in individual tracks from an album to have a Christmas tag. This is because some tracks on a non-Christmas album will have a Christmas track or two on them. I’d like to create a playlist with more automation, pulling tagged tracks as well as full albums as necessary, to get a Christmas (or other tagged playlist) together.
This is such a fundamental and weird flaw in Plex, having defined two pseudo tag types, “artist genre” and “album genre”, but ignoring just “genre” (e.g., track genre, the only non-custom genre type in mp3 files).
Foobar2000 can give me a list of all 989 songs with that genre; Plex can only find 194.
This is fundamental functionality.
