Searching for subtitles causes playback to crash

Server Version#: 1.23.3.4707
Player Version#: PlexWeb 4.57.4

Starting within the last week (I believe) whenever I try to search for subtitles the show stops playing and I get the following error:

“Playback Error
There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.”

Regular subtitles can be invoked just fine. This functionality has worked flawlessly since it was introduced until now.

Does the same happen while using the hosted web app ?
Are you using any web browser add-ins?

Same thing happens hosted or direct, with or without my usual plugins/extensions, on multiple machines.

I was asking the above question because I cannot reproduce the issue over here. Hence I assumed it might have to do with filtering add-ins.

Are you using a particular web browser?

Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. All produce the same error.

Does the error appear right after clicking on “Search”, or does it only occur after selecting one of the search results?

The instant I click “search” the error appears and the show stops playing.

Have you tried to restart the Plex server?

Restarted PMS . No change. Rebooted the server (Win10, fully patched), no change. Then just for fun while I was there I tried from the actual server and the search works normally. Went back to other machines and no joy.

Are you employing any DNS filters in your local network?

Are you perhaps affected by “DNS rebinding protection”? https://support.plex.tv/articles/206225077-how-to-use-secure-server-connections#toc-4
