TheTVDB recently changed the way they list certain shows by season. MythBusters ( http://www.thetvdb.com/index.php?tab=series&id=73388 ) being the one I am personally concerned with though I understand there are others… Instead of listing show episodes by season number Season 1 = S01E01 etc., they have relisted the shows by year aired. So, now Season 1 is actually 2003 and is listed as S2003E01 etc. So the scanner/metadata agent no longer downloads the data related to the show. They state on there forums as follows:
“TheTVDb is still reliable and accurate source. The official website lists the series by year and we’re matched to that. We made a viable change to a series based on the only source which actually matters. If plex can’t handle year season then you need to take it up with them as most modern scrapers are fully capable. The listing here will not be changing.”
My question therefore is this, will you (and if so, when) update the scanner/metadata agent processing to allow these new conventions to work or will we have to manually input data for those situations from now on?
I’m not sure what you mean, I’ve used this naming previously for other shows and all the test episodes I made for the new mythbusters format are working correctly as shown below:
Match your files and folders naming to your choosen metadata source. Thetvdb.com already gave the answer (difference between scene and program provider numbering is common for double ep for example) and you post an agent issue to the scanner forum.
That being said, a scanner could favor the season folder rather than the file specified season so you do not have to rename files, just move them in right folders Ex: Mythbuters/Season 2003/s01e01.ext but scanner do not allow options so a file will need to be present in Logs folder or series folder. I am considering adding this to my Absolute Series Scanner which also supports season numbering…

I have no idea what was going on but I tried this last night without success. However, after reading the reply/answer, I tried it and it worked flawlessly. Perhaps there was an issue with TheTVDB that has since been corrected. Who knows but all that really matters is it works. Thanks!
