is there anyway of recording a specific season of a series, rather than recording any episode across all seasons?
Not a specific season that I am aware of. You can set the recording to only New Airings which would record any new episodes of the show that are marked in the program guide as “New”. So you would not get all episodes recorded if they were aired in the past.
I live in the UK, and those US shows are never labelled as new when I get them.
