I have only just noticed the ‘Season Titles’ field that can be set for TV seasons. Is this what I think it is and you can supply a name for a season that Plex will then use when displaying the Seasons of a TV Show?
I’ve been wanting that for ages, but is that really what this new field is for or am I misunderstanding this?
Assuming I’m not misunderstanding what it means, can this be set in any of a file’s metadata or folder naming structure so that Plex will use that to set a Season Title when importing?
Yes, that’s exactly what it is
And no… you cannot derive this from embedded metadata or folder names. Season titles will be automatically populated by the new tv-show scanner/agent if you enable it for your library – alternatively you can manually assign season titles.
Thanks. Great that we’ve got it finally, but a shame it cannot be taken from a file’s metadata. EVERYTHING like this needed for the database should be able to be extracted from the metadata on import.
Although the database can be edited after import, there should never be any need to do this. If a database becomes corrupt, or for any other reason one needs to set up a Library again from scratch, any manual edits will be lost and have to be re-created (if you can remember what’s been done), but if all that data is taken from a file’s metadata, it’ll come back in again with the new import. That’s how it should be.
