Seasons 10 and beyond are not being added / noticed / indexed

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59
Player Version#: Whatever matches the server version web interface

The indexer is acting weird. Some new seasons of existing shows get added but aren’t showing up in Plex. So, I do the suggestion of moving the shows directory outside of the library directory, let Plex reindex, delete the trash, and touch all the dirs/files and then move it back under the library directory. Plex notices the series and begins to index it and completes. It seems to be completely ignoring two digit seasons.

So for example, I move “Bobs Burgers” out of the library directory. Plex scans. When done, I empty trash. I happened to renumber the directory names such that all directories are two digit. For example, “season1” becomes “season01”. I touch everything so that the time/data stamps are current… and move it back under the library directory. Plex notices and begins to index it… and finishes. It only indexes seasons 01 - 09 and completely ignores 10, 11, and 12.

This behavior is consistent across a few series I was having trouble with including Doctor Who 2005.

I’m guessing this is a bug.

Ok, I noticed if I rename say, Bobs_Burgers-1001.mp4 to Bobs_Burgers-S10E01.mp4 then stuff gets indexed. This used to work… but at least I got it figured out.

glad you sorted it, and i guess you know that even though it used to work it doesn’t match PleX’s recommended naming.

Episode numbering must contain a letter (e.g. 1x03 - which is deprecated), where SxxEyy is preferred.

NNNN implies absolute episode numbering format and clearly not what’s desired here.

Plex DocumentationYour MediaNaming & Organizing Your TV Shows

Plex is very picky with TV show naming and organization. For best results, follow the documentation.

From the documentation:
/TV Shows/ShowName/Season 02/ShowName – s02e17 – Optional_Info.ext

The most important bit in the file name is the appropriate season and episode number notation s02e17 which in this example means Season 2 Episode 17

For shows with many versions / reboots / remakes, it helps to add the year to the show’s folder and file names. Use the year the show was introduced, not the year the episode aired.

You can also add the TVDB or TMDB ID to the show folder name. This will help Plex find the correct metadata for the show.

Example for Bob’s Burgers:

/TV Shows <-- Folder added to your TV Show library. Name unimportant.
.../Bob's Burgers <-- Folder for each show
....../Season 01 <-- Season Folder with two digits for season number (unless four needed)
........./Bob's Burgers - s01e01.ext <-- ext = mp4/mkv/etc

Use two digits for the season & episode numbers, unless the show is listed with four digit numbers on TVDB or TMDB.

@FordGuy61 it’s actually not THAT picky, for many years before i used plex my naming structure was

tv shows\showname\season xx\xx.ext (where this last xx is the episode number)

this file structure just works - and still does, the only time it gets tripped up is when it’s looking for subtitles and i only found this out when someone new accessing my server required them, and then it’s only an issue if they aren’t in the file but need to be searched for. I guess it also wouldn’t work for seasons with over 99 eps.

I can’t be bothered going back and renaming them so it’s basically just my legacy shows and anything new i add with the current naming conventions so i wouldn’t recommend anyone trying this convention out, just pointing out that it’s not as fussy as all that - but specific things (like what the OP has done) will certainly trip it up.
