Second Window For Video And Full Screen Shows Memu Bar After New Plex App Install

Server Version#:1.17.0.01841-d42cfa161
Player Version#:1.3.1.916-cb2c34d

So I upgraded to the new Plex App For Windows. ( the Plex Media Player would no longer run … for whatever reason )

I am having an issue when playing a movie (or tv show) … the video pops up in a second window with a menu bar that never goes away. I can ‘maximize’ the new window, but the menu bar stays. I also have no control over the video from that window … I have to go back to the original application window to pause or whatever … even to stop the video from playing. I can’t close the second window. I still have to go back to the original application window and close the player there.

Is this a new ‘feature’ and can it be turned off to function like it used to. Play the video in the same window and go full screen without a menu bar?

Thank your for your help.

Player Version: 1.3.1.916-1cb2c34d
Server Version: 1.15.6.1079

Just had the same thing happen when I switched user accounts (windows user account, not plex account) on the same computer (Windows 10 v1903 build 18362.356). Was working as usual with video playing in the same window on the other account, using the same player/server install and everything. Reinstalled the player and I’m still getting the same thing. Also tried turning off hardware decoding and direct play/stream, no dice. No controls on the video window at all, can’t fullscreen the video only maximize. Does this for all collections even music. I don’t see anything in the settings that would affect this. Not an ideal experience. I will try updating the server but considering it was working fine on the other account I doubt it will change anything.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Did/do you have mpv-player installed on the same machine?

Thank you for the replies …

No I do not have ‘mpv-player’ installed. It ended up playing just fine after a reboot. Stupid me for assuming a reboot wasn’t needed after the install.
