Secure Connection is no longer working from any computer via the web

Hi Everyone,

I have always been able to use: http://app.plex.tv/web/app to get to my local Plex server. However, I can no longer use that link today as it will not load any of my media anymore. I can navigate the UI and look around settings, but it will not connect to movies, shows, music, etc.

The only address that is 100% working at this time is http://computername:32400/web/index.html which works perfectly fine. I can stream anything I want through a web browser on any computer using that address only.

My streaming devices(Nvidia shield, roku) and phones all connect to the Plex app without any issue. Nothing has changed with any mobile device. My problem purely exists on regular Windows computers trying to access the website above.

I would like to add that earlier today I did make a new network change. I changed my network from a 192.168 to a 10.10.1.x/24. I have a simple network with 2 static IP addresses. Nothing major and it was all successfully changed over manually.

Anyway, back to Plex. I don’t understand why my laptops/computers cannot connect to the website that I’ve had book marked for more than 4+ years. Does anyone have any ideas? Could it be part of the outage earlier today?

Specs:

Web Version 4.22.2
Server: Version 1.18.8.2527
OS: Windows 10

Thanks in advance.

Hey Again,

So I was able to figure this one out on my own. After reading numerous technical aspects of what the problem could be such as DNS Rebinding, DNS provider, routers, etc…etc… It just boiled down to one thing.

Again, whether or not it makes any difference that I changed my home network IP address(DHCP scope), I don’t know. What fixed it for me was doing the following:

Settings> Remote Access> Enable Remote Access (Which I don’t want. I just use my Plex for internal LAN use only)

I enabled it, tested the https://app.plex.tv/web/app address, and noticed it worked.

Disabled the Remote Access since I did not want it. Address worked fine after as well.

Hope this helps someone else in similar situation.

Thanks.
