Security Alert at sign-in

A red security alert comes up when signing on. It indicates - “another device is attempt You should only continue if you know this device and intend to grant it access” It gives an 11 digit number which must be the device and I cannot do anything with it. It is not an IP address. It also has my email. Can someone provide a little more background on this type of alert. Also, when it has my email on the bottom of the message it that referring to email used in the attempted alert.

It is quite confusing to me what they are suggesting or what I should do. Any ideas and how long will the message keep popping up? Thanks… .

This warning is normal if you are loading the plex web app directly from the device where you have installed the Plex server software. e.g. http://192.168.1.23:32400/web

As soon as you have connected your server to your plex.tv user account, you can use https://app.plex.tv instead, which won’t show this warning.

Thank you. It works to use the https://app.plex.tv The interesting thing is this is the first time I got this message. I have been for years using the open plex in the dropdown for Plex in the taskbar and just now it started. Does seem odd doesn’t it. I wonder if I can remap the Open Plex?

You cannot. Simply pin a bookmark to your desktop or wherever it’s convenient.

Again thank you for the answers. I did put a bookmark on the desktop and have a good work around to avoid the security notice. Again thank you.
