Seek video to specific time

Server Version#: 1.16.0.1226
Player Version#: 7.17.0.10904

I have a 1 yr old Sony Bravia TV running on Android. My Plex Server is hosted on a QNAP NAS. (in case this matters)

I would like to be able to seek to a specific time (hh.mm.ss) in a video. How do I do that on the Android-based PMP that’s installed on my Sony TV? I tried just entering numbers but this doesn’t work. Perhaps there’s some magical key I must press first to alert PMP I want to enter a time value? (try as I might, I can’t find out if this is needed and/or what this might be)

From going through other forum postings, I’ve seen other users ask for this on other platforms (like PS4) and the answer being, it’s not supported. However, I’ve seen other posts that “suggest” this should be possible to do this on Android, yet, no luck finding out exactly how.

If this feature isn’t supported on my Android TV, is it possible to use VLC as the Plex player instead? If so, how would I go about configuring to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help/info!

Jumping to an exact time is not possible. You can bring up the player controls, move the focus to the timeline, then move that left right to the spot you want, but it’s not exact.

Many thanks for this info @anon18523487, though it sucks that such a common feature isn’t supported.

In further investigation, it seems there’s no way to hook another player to Plex. VLC can be used but then I’d lose the nice Plex interface as it would simply be a DLNA client. (And BTW, if I’m wrong about this, somebody PLEASE chime in.)

You cannot set an external player in the Android TV app.
