UI: No timeline/position/time display when seeking

This affects non-beta TV builds as well. Running NVIDIA Shield TV

ISSUE:
When seeking during playback, no timeline or other information is displayed to show the effects of the seek operation.

EFFECTS:
This makes it difficult to seek to specific point within a show/movie as there’s no point of reference.

WORKAROUND:
Pop up the OSD before seeking. The big issue here is that it’s no longer possible to seek with LEFT/RIGHT buttons when the full OSD is displayed - you must select the on-screen seek buttons and then press OK/SELECT. Not an appropriate workaround.

Other video playing apps use the standard convention of showing a timeline and tracking time while seeking. This includes Netflix on Android TV and other platforms and even Plex clients and Media Player on other platforms.

You would probably get more traction over in the feature request topic, as that’s really what this is

I’ve reposted to the general Android TV sub-forum with a request header, but IMO, this is a deficiency report, not a feature request, as it’s present in other Plex client platforms. The lack of the timeline display doesn’t look like a planned feature (even if it was intentional).

This and many other issues would be mitigated by offering feature parity under a single UI paradigm, allowing for minor platform/input differences. It would also be a lot easier to track, test and debug going forward.
