I’ve got a Plex Media Server running on unraid and 4k UHD movies (via DirectPlay) play great. Most UHD movies have no problem resuming and seeking. However, specifically on IT Chapter 2, if I stop halfway through the movie and try to resume later, it hangs with the spinning circle and never resumes. I have to watch from the beginning. Seeking has the same issue and it seems to get worse the further into the movie I progress. Standard bluray mkv rips and all other 4k UHD movies do not have this issue. My server processes will be very active but the movie never resumes. I’m on a hardwired 100/100 connection to my router and server from my Shield Pro.
I’ve done some more testing and, only once, was I able to get the thumbnail preview to pop up above the marker when seeking. This is normal behavior for all other movies but not for IT Chapter 2 when I’m experiencing the infinite hang issue. The thumbnail preview appeared after allowing the spinning circle to go for about 15 minutes. I could not replicate it again. All my other 4k rips seek and resume fine (just a few seconds longer than 1080p).
Also, when I switch to transcoding at 1080p (20mbps) from a 4k file, it plays fine after about five seconds. Switching back to full resolution results in the same infinite hang issue mentioned above. Any ideas?
