Selected Subtitle does not show in Movie

Recently added movies mostly (not all) allow me to select the subtitle file but sutitles do not show while playing movie. This happens in Plex Media Player and Plex Web. Verified subtitle is correct by playing movie in VLC - no issues, works fine.

movie file name is movie (year).mp4
subtitle file name is movie (year).en.srt

In Agents Local Media Assets is selected and at the top of the list for all 3 sections under Movies

Please provide an actual example of file names.
The file names have to be exactly identical, apart from the end, after the period. (.eng.srt vs .mp4)
That includes upper/lower case!

Is the video in question ‘matched’?

When I organize movies I create the folder Movie (year) and then copy and paste to the movie file and then the subtitle file to ensure no typos.

Plex gives me the choice to select the English Subtitle but once selected nothing shows up. To verify the subtitle was correct for the movie file, I double clicked the movie file (opening VLC player), selected the subtitle file and the subtitles show as they should.

I do not know what you mean by ‘matched’?

That is the process to assign your movie file to a record in one of the metadata providers. This is then used to download metadata about the movie, like cast, studio, posters etc.

Please copy the contents of the Plex XML info of this movie into a post here.

Do also zip up the subtitle file and drag it into the forum’s message editor.

I tried 4 other .srt files and one finally worked and watched the movie. Next movie I find with the problem I will post the XML info and srt.zip
