Subtitles not displaying

There is one mp4 and srt file (named the same as the mp4) in my library that doesn’t show the subtitles when I play it in plex. If I open the files in vlc, the subtitles show just fine. The srt file is selected for the video in plex, but plex doesn’t show the subtitles.
Any suggstions?

You write the files are named the same. Does this mean there’s no language suffix in the subtitle file name?

e.g.

Movies  <- folder linked to your movie library
  Movie Title (Year)
    Movie Title (Year).mp4
    Movie Title (Year).eng.srt

Plex should still be able to pick a subtitle up if there’s no language suffix – but without an identified language, Plex won’t be able to auto-select the subtitle track (auto-selection is based on your language preferences).
