Selecting Closed Captions on DVR Recording Forces 4K Transcode

Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319
Player Version#: Plex App for iOS 14.8.1, TVOS 15.2

STILL HAVE THIS BUG IN Closed Captions: iOS or AppleTV, HDHomeRun DVR, and Plex Server running on Synology DS218+.

Whenever I am watching a recorded OTA program, when I try to turn on closed captioning, the Player on AppleTV switches to “Convert to 4K (Maximum)” and program pauses and stutters, indicating transcoding - even though the original file is 1080i MPEG2VIDEO, which will play just fine on my network (ATV’s are wired, 1GB Ethernet over Cat6). If I turn CC’s off, the setting remains transcoded to 4K, until I choose “Play Original Quality” again. Have tried ALL settings on server and on clients, no help (see Enabling Closed Captions on DVR recording Forces 4K Transcode on Apple TV).

This happens ONLY with DVR recordings from HDHomeRun - NOT for movies, video files with separate subtitle files (e.g. .srt).

Tried deleting and re-creating DVR, updating both clients and server, and erasing and reinstalling; same results. Happens on 2 different Apple TV’s and on iOS (iPhone 7) app.

Is anyone else having this issue?

OKAY - I just noticed today (1/3/2021) that Closed Captioning using the original format (MPEG 2) recorded program now displays correctly without transcoding. The TVOS app that works now is reporting version 7.26 (1744).

Whoever fixed this, THANK YOU.
