Separating multiple language TV-Shows

Hello everybody
I’ve got a similar / same problem as in this post: How to organise TV shows with multiple languages

I’ve got some tv shows that I like to watch in english but other of my plex users like to watch them in german, or they like to watch them in german first and then in english to learn english. Now most german files of those episodes don’t have an english audio and some title cards etc. are in german too. So I don’t want to add the german and english audio to 1 file.

So I used to solve the issue as follows: I add both shows separately, split them and fix matched one version with theTVdb and one with TheMovieDatabase, so they seem to be 2 different shows for Plex which is what I want, because when I watch it in english the german show still shows as unwatched, because I didn’t watch that version, thats my goal again. But now I can’t fix match them with the different agents, I can only fix match them with the plex agent. And when doing that and splitting It always marks both shows as watched even if I only watched one version.

Can anyone help me here with a way to make this work? Can I separate those 2 versions somehow that they don’t sync the watched status?

Thanks for any reply

While the legacy agents are still around you can create a separate library using one of those. You can then add one bunch of dedicated language files to that library.

Personally I prefer using files with audio tracks in both languages (w/ very few exceptions like some Pixar movies where there’s different-language video tracks or the Star Wars movies with different-language flying banner intros).

Thanks for your fast reply, I found that workaround but I’d like to have all my TV shows in one library and not have to create another one just for these 10-20 series.
Is there no way to enable the legacy agents again when fix matching shows? some setting I can set in the UI or in some file or wherever? that would solve my issue perfectly again…

Thanks again.

Doesn’t look like there’s such a workaround/fallback.
