Seriously Plex????

No idea where to put this so -
I just posted something in response to a question from a fairly new user. I then made some edits, to add more info and clarify my answer.
I then get this message:

You have posted 5 times within 60 seconds. A spam block is now in effect on your account. You must wait at least 120 seconds before attempting to post again.

So let me get this straight, I have over 2400 posts (not a huge amount but obviously quite a few), I have a lifetime Plex Pass and have been around for almost 5 years and NOW you think I am posting spam?
Seriously?

Not your fault - nor Plex’s

shares some of his few remaining Chill Pills with @rsava

If you think this is fun, be in our shoes.

I “think” it is something that is happening to a few “special” users. I have well over 3000 posts and I am pretty active and I have not seen that message even once.

I am so disappointed!!! I guess Plex does not want to annoy those of us that are already annoyed by other actions Plex has taken lately.

I am being denied my right to be slighted like everybody else. I find this behavior EXTREMELY discriminatory. Maybe it is age discrimination or maybe it is only those with low complaint counts that are being hit with that message or maybe it is something else that they are using for their targeted discrimination but I WANT IN!!!

It is blatantly unfair that there are prolific posters that are being intentionally left out!

 >:) >:) >:) >:)

Boy that was a fast response. I just received the message.

Thank you! I now feel accepted again!

If it was me I would go and get some fresh air for 120 seconds…

If you want, I can always ASK them to start messing with people? >:)

Asking to do what is already being done? Is that not the very definition of redundancy?

Personally I believe this points to another issue:
I think we should stamp out and abolish redundancy.

it’s really an indirect pointer. haha

Thanks @OttoKerner. Interesting link.
Thanks @ChuckPA, always good to have extra medication around, especially when dealing with Plex lately.

I wish I knew what’s going on with the forums. We’ve reached out to Vanilla (the provider). They tell us it’s fixed, but the problems persist.

I’d share more of my Chill Pills but with the cough BS cough I’ve had from some threads, I can’t spare too many. I do hope you understand? LOL

When the forum says to wait 120 seconds? Don’t believe it! Wait 240! lolol
Go get something to drink or whatever.

We survived the weekend (somehow). We’ll see what happens next.

IMHO, The forum provider let the chimps who run the forums take a break over the weekend. When the humans came in to run it, we got this mess. It’s monday again. Hopefully, with the chimpanzees back in charge, it will settle down and be normal again. >:)

Time for better forum software. Vanilla is not known for quality or ease of use. The list of frustrations since the switch has been growing and a bit PITA.

@sremick

I’ve asked the same thing time & time again. Moving this forum is a HUGE task. Moving from the last location to vanilla was hard enough. Since then the traffic has grown an order of magnitude.

I will ask again but last time I asked, I was told it would take some 30+ days to complete a migration.

Do you / does anyone have a list of reputable and good alternatives?

That’s what you get for growing so much!

It is said “Bigger is better” but that can also be put that “Bigger is harder.” With growth comes aches and pains; just ask about any teenager or the parent of one or more of the same.

Actually my suggestion is simplify: remove all the meaningless badges etc and I am not even sure that post counts really have any meaning. With a simpler setup unexpected actions are less likely and, when they happen, they are easier to track down.

My experience with forums (as far as setting up etc goes) is quite dated and therefore I can be of little help there. I only know that the more complex the structure and the options the harder it is to avoid problems.

I know this kind of flies in the face of my position that Plex clients need more options but the two are actually not mutually exclusive when you factor in the advantage/disadvantage ratio. I believe there is almost no advantages to the fluff on the forum but I also believe that choice in the clients has great advantages.

Frilly stuff is Window dressing. I am not the least bit concerned with any of that. Any vendor worth their salt can add or remove with reliable ease.

I’m speaking to the core features. The core reliability. Think back to the old forum if you can and what we lost coming here. Look at the day-to-day operations issues which a forum provider should never let happen.

I believe, if there really is/was a sufficiently justifiable benefit to making such a move and the community both supported and wanted it, I don’t see why it wouldn’t happen. I think they call that the ‘Win-Win’ scenario ?
