this has been requested since 2014 and I’m wondering why this has not become a thing, plex is amazing and very happy with you guys so much I have a membership, it’s just small things like messenger inside the server or even a admin prodcast message that can be sent to al users currently using the server or when they login reguarding server maintance or new uploads would be great I feel plex has really limited the options for a server host
Not for sure if having a broadcast system would be a good thing in Plex. I have found that people usually dont like having messages spammed to them while trying to watch a movie.
You could use something like Tautulli to setup a notification system through email, Facebook, twitter or such to do something similar though.
Plex has implemented a message system for when you stop an item being played (from the activity menu), so something has been done to aid it.
that’s not even close to good enough, there should be a welcome message field and an active message system that can be sent at any time without termination of the video

I understand what you are saying, but you must realize this is your server, it is your media content, does not matter who the person watching remotely wants…admin should have full rights to send messages anytime they want

Yea, if I wanted to make people STOP using my media server - one sure-fire way to make that happen is to start Live Advertising Message Spam, but there’s an easier way…:
“Remove Friend”.
There are plenty of dumb things Plex can, and probably already is, working on and if this is one of them - I have to say I’m not a bit surprised.

Plex wouldn’t dare allow server owners to spam. They’d do it themselves first. :o
I think the point the OP is after is being able to send a message to the 5 or 6 people currently on the system in an easy to do manner. Such as “The server will be going down for maint at 7pm and will be back up at 9pm” type thing.
Or if slightly more advanced could be setup for a time zone so that if someone new logs in after you have set the message they would get it as well and know about the “event” you have planned.
IMHO simple admin SEND ONLY messages good. Trying to make it a PM system or two-way is BAD.
