Server bug: Metadata keeps refreshing/updating when accessing a movie page

Server Version#:1.29.1.6316
Player Version#: 1.55.0.3278-c6164b3c (android: 9.9.0)
Logs: Plex Media Server Logs_2022-10-23_21-52-41

Hi guys,

Whenever I access a film page (either on android or windows), it takes ages to load, and I noticed it’s because the metadata from the actual movie is being reloaded (and sometimes it even changes the artwork just by clicking on a movie page, it’s really annoying).

By “Refresh all metadata” on the film section, it seems to fix the issue for a few hours, but after that the bug is back.

Is there a way to prevent this behavior and just access the metadata that I have stored on the server instead of never-endingly reloading metadata for nothing?
Is my database corrupted, what can I do to repair that?
I joined logs in the message top,

Thanks for helping guys, this is driving me nuts
(Series are unaffected, just movie sections)

I suspect what you’re seeing here is the local metadata being refreshed. When the underlying path of a movie or episode changes and you open that movie/episode it will trigger a local metadata refresh to reload things like local artwork or subtitles that may have changed.

If you’re seeing this often then it’s normally a sign that the path is changing often, e.g. files are being added or deleted to the same path your movie file is in. You’ll normally find this happen if you have all your movie files stored in one single folder and you’re adding or removing things to this folder on a regular basis. The solution here is to have a separate subfolder for each movie inside the main movie folder, so that the path doesn’t change when you add or remove other files from the movie path.

drzoidberg33, it looks like the movies that are in subfolders (I use subfolders for collection items) are totally unaffected and load instantly, and it didn’t even strike me until now…
It then makes total sense that Series wouldn’t be affected either, if plex behaves like this natively.

You sir are a gentleman, thank you very much for your swift helpful reply, it fixed the issue 100%

Not to push it, but you may be the best person to know how to fix another (minor) issue.

I have the same latency, that occurs when clicking on collections on android+windows (the page that displays all the films from a collection). It takes a good 5 seconds to display which films are in the collection.
The bug doesn’t appear on Series collection once again, only on films.
Any idea why?

My drive tree is as follows for collections:
\Films_tree\Indiana Jones Collection\indy1.mkv
\Films_tree\Indiana Jones Collection\indy2.mkv
\Films_tree\Indiana Jones Collection\indy3.mkv
\Films_tree\Star Wars Collection\sw1.mkv
\Films_tree\Star Wars Collection\sw2.mkv

I refreshed the whole film collection (it took hours). The films pages are fixed 100% thanks to your trick, but not the collection display.
If you have a clue what may be at fault here I’ll gladly take the help, thanks very much.
