Server Version#: 1.30.0.6486
Player Version#: 9.13.1.37459 Android
1.59.1.3398-dab42972 Windows
Moved my server to a different PC and have had endless issues since then most of which I was able to resolve but after getting everything to finally work it stayed working for about 2 hours then without doing anything to the server at all it has lost the ability to communicate directly with the server. Player apps say can’t access the server directly but will play some media (not all libraries though) can’t access server settings on any device including the host machine, it says “Unnable to connect to server securely” when attempting through the web app. On the host machine, 127.0.0.1 is just a blank page with error “ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE”
The only thing thats fixed the issue is completely reinstalling windows. It will work perfectly for a bit then do the same thing again.
Edit: For some reason its now letting me access server settings through the windows app but it is still an indirect connection. (I haven’t changed anything) Plex Media Server Logs_2022-12-27_01-54-40.zip (3.9 MB)
disable all Torrent client software on the server machine, if there is any
disable all network adapters, except one (preferably a wired connection to the router)
check the properties of the network connection in the Windows control panel. Verify that it is classified as “private”, not “public”
go to Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show Advanced’ and set “Preferred network interface” to the actual network interface.
If it already is set to a network adapter, put it back to “Any”.
Then stop and restart the server and let it sit a few minutes.
Thanks for the tips OttoKerner. I tried doing all of that except for changing the server settings because I made the mistake of unchecking the manual port box last night and now it is unreachable everywhere. I also tried deleting the registry keys as detailed in this support page but that had no effect
That’d mean that you are not locally on the machine. And/or that your home network is not using an IP range which is designated for private networks. Or that you have stuck the server into a virtual machine of some kind.
Working on the machine running plex media server I’m still not able to access it in any way, my home network is using 198.168.1.1 - 198.168.1.99, and it’s connected via ethernet. Not running any virtual machines, everything is on bare windows 10.
It seems to be an issue specifically with plex because I can remote in with nomachine just fine using the LAN network or from WAN using a port
Do you have any kind of 3rd-party firewall software or anti virus software running on there?
When the server is not responsive anymore, is the Plex icon still in the task tray?
If it is, does it remain there when you move your mouse pointer over it?
No 3rd party security software, just windows defender and Plex is allowed through the firewall. The Plex icon is still there and doesn’t go away with the mouse over it, it can be right-clicked on and it brings up the menu but if you click open plex it opens a blank page. The network is set to private. I’m not sure about the plex network settings since I can’t access them anymore but I think it was set to the ethernet controller before I lost all access, I did try changing it from “Any” to the ethernet controller before and it had no effect.
Have you ever started Plex server using the “Run as Administrator” command?
If you did, the access permissions in your plex data folder might be messed up.
Did Method 2 using the 2.2 .reg file and it had no effect, still getting “ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE” when I go to http://127.0.0.1.32400/web or try to open it from the taskbar icon. Also tried moving the “Plex Media Server” folder from local app data, it remade the folder but still getting the same blank page
