Hi all, I’ve been having some problems since I added a tuner to my Windows 10 Plex server a few months ago and I wonder if someone can help.
The Plex Media Server seems to crash shortly after it has finished recording a TV show. Interestingly, it doesn’t seem to happen after recording a movie or be related to any particular channel.
It’s been doing this for a few weeks and the server version has definitely been updated at least once in that time.
I have attached the latest logs, the crash uploader seems to have run at Apr 11, 2022 21:04:04.275. The recorded show finished at 21.04.
Brand new install of Windows 10 and PMS on 4-8-2022
Mine has been doing the same thing. I have 2 minutes before and after recording setup to pad the shows on networks that keep their times slightly off to mess up DVR users.
The crashes are approximately 2 seconds after recording ends on a TV show. Unsure if movies are affected because I have not recorded any.
Today’s unsurprising crash was at 9:32:02…Yesterday’s was at 12:32:02 and 10:02:02
So far it has been once a day for these last 3 days. After several hours of downtime and lost recordings I just threw RoC at it.
Log’s didn’t show me anything useful and the only related thing I could find at the time was the log that shows that it was uploaded along with too many dumps or something along those lines.
I’m thankful for the restartoncrash software for doing something a server should automatically do on a crash/fault. Why there’s not a watchdog or recording service separate from the main server service for Plex is beyond me.
I really like Plex and want to keep using and paying for it but not if I have to micromanage my PC for DVR issues every day.
I recently upgraded the CPU in my server from a low end celeron to the fastest the motherboard would take (i7-5500k). I did this because I will be using Plex a lot more having ditched my cable boxes.
Since doing so about 2 weeks ago, Plex has not crashed once. PMS has been updated in that time so it could be a coincidence but I think not, I think the issue may be related to resources required when recording from a tuner card.
To those of you suffering with this issue, it may be a line of enquiry worth pursuing.
