Server crashed, and new one created on launch - help!

Hi there, I installed the latest (stable) version of the PMS last night, and I woke up this morning to find my server non-responsive. I exited the Server on the host machine and re-opened, and it prompted me to create a new server. I clicked through the first page (where you just name the new server) and then exited again. Now no matter what I do, it shows me this new server. And (more importantly) the other one is still listed as unreachable - I have no idea why and I’m very nervous to try any more troubleshooting. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Update. I’ve been trying to restore my server from backups, and even with a fresh install, before I copy any data over, it sees my machine as the new (empty) server rather than the old one. Where on earth is that information stored? Is it somewhere on Plex’s servers, rather than on my machine?? How do I get it to revert to my old server? No matter what I do, it shows the old one as unavailable and the new one as present (claimed/unclaimed, but present).

Was the server run under a different Windows user account?
All these settings are in the registry, in the branch
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server
which means that every Windows user account has individual settings.
If you run Plex server under a different Windows user account, it will behave as if it is completely new.

Omg thank you so much. Yes, when I remotely connected to the server in my latest session, for some reason it logged me on as a different (non-admin) user. It was annoying me no end because every time I wanted to do anything, I had to manually enter my admin credentials in a pop-up. It never occurred to me that that would be a problem. The server just needed to be restarted in the correct user. Thank you thank you thank you!
