The server runs fine for 20-30 minutes, then just “disappears”. When logging in to the host machine, the icon is stil in the system tray - until I mouse over. Then it disappears.
This issue is observed on the following server versions:
1.16.4.1469
1.16.5.1488
1.16.5.1554
1.16.6.1592
1.17.0.1709
1.17.0.1841
1.18.0.1913
1.18.0.1944
The last working version is 1.16.3.1402.
When re-installing 1.16.3.1402 everything works ok.
Apologies for taking a long time to spot this post. You could bump posts if they do not get seen. Just adding another post.
I have looked at the crash dumps and we are crashing in a FreeImage module whilst processing a photo - possibly a tiff file.
The log from October shows this file as the last file being processed just before the crash P:\skov.tif
It may well be the file that is causing the FreeImage code to crash.
There may be other files as well - with more logs we can see if it is always the same file being processed
Move this file out of the library (do not delete it because it would be useful to investigate the crash with it - if you are happy to share the file privately)
Rescan the library and clear trash
The dump files just identify the crash. It is the logs that identify what was being processed - so for each case would need logs + dump
Thanks for making the tif file available. Appears to be a regression in FreeImage 3.18.0 which we updated Plex Media Server to in August 2019 - in 1.16.4
I have referred this to our development team. Of course we may be dependent on there being a fix from the FreeImage developers
