Server crashing after latest update to 1.15.0 - Logs included

Nope, still rocking and rolling, and playing music happily in the living room.

I are perplexed I are.

Installed the 1.15.1 version and deleted the cache db files. I will test if the error occurs again tonight.

I’ve noticed since updating to PlexMediaServer-1.15.0.659-9311f93fd-x86 that it will not stay running…it just exits. Rebooting the server, it loads for a moment, then just exits. :frowning:

Thanks for your help. Attached are latest logs and the results of the metadata you asked for.

FYI the instructions at the website you linked on how to find the token are vague and don’t help. They should mention to hit the GET INFO button on a library item and then hit the VIEW XML button on the bottom of the info window. I had to search elsewhere to find out how to get the token.

Anyway - here are the results of the 4 items you requested… (I guess I hit the maximum so I attached the text file instead

Many thanks for making the album available for me to test with. So far I have not been able to get it to crash. Under what circumstances was it crashing?

This is really strange. You can find the date of the Plex server crashes from the even viewer in my previous post. I haven’t checked all, but I assume you should see CRITICAL log entry at the same time.
All I did is moved this album in and out from the library.

  1. Moved album into the right folder, pushed library refresh, album showed up, metadata refresh started, Plex server crashed.
  2. Restarted the Plex server, went into music library, pushed metadata refresh on this item, Plex server crashed.
  3. Removed album from folder, restarted Plex, went into library, empty trash, pushed library refresh, everything worked fine.
Second attempt with exactly the same steps had the same result.

After installing the 1.15.1 version no crashes occurred. I ran two movies last night without any problems. Happy wife and kids:grin:!

Thanks very much!

Do you need more logs from me of is it clear where the issue occured for next Plex releases?

If i may add my problem to this topic. version 1.15.0.659, windows 10, chrashes every day during night. it seems - during scheduled tasks.

can any one see and recognize any issues in the logs, please…?

@wyldemusick @dirwin85 @Wang.Chung.Plex
I have a fix for one of the crashes you had - it is not the one that leads to the xc0000409 but an unhandled c++ exception which you all had

@wyldemusick had 10 uploaded crash reports between 13 Feb 05:00 am GMT and 16th February 20:00 GMT on BearcubII

It will be development build 1.15.1.707
@foxmen as you are running with an earlier development build, I will send you link to this as well

Hope you can try it out and let me have logs after any crashes
Note this does not fix the 0xc0000409 stack overrun crashes

Thanks

guessing with my stack overrun crashes, no update requried past current 1.694?

You did have one crash that the fix in 1.15.1.707 addresses
It was 18th Feb at 14:34:27
But yes - your main crashes is still being investigated. I would like you to update 1.15.1.707 from 1.15.1.694

Great!

Thanks, will try the dev build and report when i have a crash.
Thank you for your support!

I’m having the same issue. Windows 10 , Plex 1.15.0.659Plex Media Server Logs_2019-02-21_08-20-28.zip (5.8 MB)

@sa2000, Have you tested with standard or premium music library?
Today I did some tests again. Created a completely new folder on PC and new library in Plex, added this single album into it only. The standard music library always worked fine, the premium library always crashed the plex server with ucrtbase.dll, 0xc0000409, during library refresh and/or metadata refresh. Between the tests I always emptied trash, removed bundle, optimized database.

I’ll gather it up and give it a go. Meanwhile, 1.15.659 crashed during the night, it seems, during scheduled tasks, so given that settings I have enabled (thumbnail generation during media add and scheduled tasks), it’s something about the scheduler. Once again, too, there doesn’t seem to be any indication of a crash log being uploaded.

This is now released as beta - 1.15.1.707 (same build as what you have)

  • Avoid crash at startup when scanning remote media servers (#9664)

Ongoing: sticky library updates. I’m just waiting to see whether quitting/restarting Plex and/or updating Plex to 1.15.1.707 (I’m waiting for the 1 after 909 myself) fixes that. After that it’ll be the three finger salute (in the case of BearcubII, it’s more a single finger salute, as it always needs a shutdown due to the big drives and weird BIOS.)

If the library updates are still sticking…log upload time.

I have taken the step of consolidating two of the classical libraries and renaming two others. The library update there seems to be going okay (I deleted one of the libraries and let things grind through optimization.) Once things are settled down I’ll upload a copy of the database and send you a link.

If you watch it, as soon as it does a library optimize/clean up it crashes. If you force it or even just wait for it either way something hangs and then it just crashes.

1.15.1.707 has been behaving pretty well thus far. 659 was a crashy bugger, on the other hand.

I’m waiting to see how 707 handles scheduled tasks, starting in about an hour from now. Hopefully I won’t awaken to a pair of crashed servers.
