I lost a drive on my Unraid server and I had to restart the container for Plex. Now it cannot find my server. I tried logging out of the web ui and starting the server from Unraid and all my libraries show up. It lists all the libraries I had previously configured on my old server and I can watch any content(with one caveat it says the name of the server is Tower and it used to be something different). The problem is as soon as I log into my Plex account it cannot find the server and an orange exclamation mark shows up next to all my libraries and it says ““MyServer” is currently unavailable”.
I currently run plex on my shield pro and my standard version shield. Recently I’ve been recieving messages stating that my server is unavailable (on both) and for the life of me I cant figure out how to fix it. I’m assuming that it’s related to a recent update so their arent any work arounds. Any suggestions to rectify this issue would be greatly appreciated.
How are you hosting Plex? Is it in a Docker Container or are you serving it another way? My issue turned out to be the docker container not that anyone from Plex ever reached out to help even though I have a lifetime Plexpass. I have had this issue multiple times now and I think I have the steps to solve down but it really depends on the OS you are using. The basic methodology is you move your plex directory to a new instance start that then stop it and move it back and restart your old server. For some reason that worked for me, same name same libraries no data loss, in my opinion it was “pfm” but it worked and I am back up again but I have had to restart the container on occasion. This is not a proven solve just speculation after I got it working again somehow.
