I recently moved my Plex installation to a new server. All well and good. What I see now when adding new movies to the library is strange… With choosing an actor.
In the movies library I see all the movies with this actor. But when typing the actors name in the top search bar, my server is listed twice. Choosing the first server gives me all the movies added BEFORE I moved my data to another drive (or had to move Plex to another PC, don’t know anymore what the exact reason was…). Choosing the second server gives me the movies added AFTER the change.
Also, when in the movie description, the actors are listed. When clicking on the actor it only will give you a list of movies where this actor also appears in, but all depending on where the movie was added (read server 1 or server 2, before or after the changes… . But then again, when I go in the library movies, I see ALL movies. How to fix this? I have only one server running.
To give you an insight on what Plex is doing… An example. Let’s say Tom Cruise with Top Gun (1986) and Top Gun Maverick (2022). Both are in the list of “all movies by title”.
In the top search bar I now look for Tom Cruise. The search will list my server twice. I pick the first one and get a list “Tom Cruise>>Movies>>By Title”. My URL looks like this :
