Server is not powerful enough to convert video

Server Version#:
Player Version#:
Using latest Nvidia shield server and player apps on the Shield Pro 2019.

I try to play stuff like “Mr. Bean” which is a low quality, low bitrate movie and I gat that stupid message.
It used to work fine until a recent app update.

I can play my local 4K videos just fine via plex player, but cannot stream simple videos like Mr. Bean because the server is not powerful enough?

Disable video stream transcoding - Check
Use hardware acceleration when available - Check
Use hardware-accelerated video encoding - Check

What the hell???

Disable video stream transcoding – uncheck

I’ve done that and it didn’t resolve the issue.
I’m getting the same message.

This is still an issue.
Couldn’t resolve it.
please help.

  1. Reproduce a situation that gives you this error
  2. Wait a moment (2-3 min)
  3. Download your Plex Media Server logs
    https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/
  4. Upload the resulting zip-file here (preferably incl. a hint what playback failed)

What video did you watch between Oct 29 and today that caused this behavior?
I might just be tired but I can only find what seems to be a whole bunch of other video folders being marked as watched/unwatched.

The logs show that your remote access setup appears to be not working and some other intermittent network issues – however remote access shouldn’t impact your local playback and the network issues appear to be very limited and related to non-playback topics.

Hi Tom,

I didn’t watch any video because I cannot play them. If you refer to local videos, then I probably don’t remember as I had little use of Plex since that issue was introduced.

I had remote network issues because I started running Unbound as my local recursive DNS server and I had to use

server:
private-domain: "plex.direct"

in my unbound config, similar to pfsense DNS.

Other than this, due to that issue, I’m experiencing I didn’t use Plex much.

You don’t need to watch them but you need to try to play them so the attempt and any errors show up in the log. Let us know what video you tried. Also provide the log from the Shield client. Android, Android TV, Fire TV Logs | Plex Support

That’s what I’ve done.
I tried to play the video of what’s currently available to stream Mr.Bean and I got that error. I then produced the log.
I’ll try to get the logs from the client as well.

Ok, then the issue might be entirely on the client end. Nothing shows up in your server logs related to Mr Bean.

I’m trying to access the URL for logging at https://192.168.1.4:32400/logging but I get: 401 Unauthorized

Double check the port. Typically it’s 32500, but can change if the port is busy.

port 32500 doesn’t connect at all. Page not available.
Port 32400 gives the 401 error.
Since both client and server are installed on the same device, is it possible to manually access the logs on the Shield’s android folders? I can remote to it

Are you not local to the machine? If not, that’s why the URL doesn’t work. You need to access that locally.

You can’t access the client logs any other way. You can for the server logs, but not the client.

http, not https.

Also, you must have the Plex client app running on the Shield. If you close it, it shuts down access to the logs as well.

If you’re remote, is there anybody on-site that could pull the client log?

It is just text, no XML, HTML, etc. No login required. They would just have to right click, save as, then e-mail you the file.
