Server Issues

My Server is really jacked up. Nothing really works properly anymore. Everything takes forever to load and my dashboard will not load anymore. Is there any way to fix this problem??

Is this on the same network or remote access?

i believe the same network

Maybe try restarting the server or updating it. A couple questions.

  1. When you say dashboard, do you mean opening plex’s home page or is it the media files that take forever to load up?
  2. Do you have your media files and server setup on the same computer?
  3. What are you using to run the actually Plex Media Server?

yes the hompage of your plex media files.
yes they are all on the same computer. but i also have like 8 external hard drives connected to it
my desktop 8gb ram, amd processor, windows 10

Hmm interesting… How many external drives are connected to plex? my guess is that those drives are too slow or still loading metadata.

geez :joy: , it could be that the plex server is trying to make the connection to every single drive, rather than it coming from one directory.

I stumbled across this…

is the plex server on ur main pc?

yes, it’s on my main pc. ya I know I have too many. but I’m saving up to buy My Cloud Pro Series PR4100 so I can have it on one NAS storage device!

Yes thats the best way! You can have it as a dedicated Media Library and even a dedicated Plex Server. I got a Synology Nas myself and I love it.

But yea since youre using ur main pc as ur Plex server, while your using the pc it could be getting bogged down with the 8gb ram.

If you want a quick fix id say,

  • Limit your plex apps because I heard that slows it down quite a bit.
  • Move your actually Plex Server to a SSD. (My Best Suggestion :joy:)
  • Try to keep the amount of DIFFERENT drives connected to Plex to a minimum.
