Just installed a temporary new Netgear AX5 Router and now Plex Server will not keep itself loaded. Loads when computer starts and then shuts down. I restart it and it shuts down. I start it and it shuts down. Really not a fun game. Any ideas?
Server Logs please

Lucky to get it before it shuts down again.
Thanks for sharing. There’s another thread where users have experienced the issue and Plex appears to be working on it.
In case it might be important, I just noticed that if I start the server and then open it in Chrome (before it shuts down) as long as it is open in Chrome it stays running. When I close Chrome the server shuts itself down. At least that is what I just experienced, will do it a couple of time and see. …Thanks.
Well, that only works as long as you keep the browser open on the screen. Minimized it and Plex shut down.
Just noticed this new router has something called BitDefender embedded in the router and it is periodically blocking some, but not all, of the media sites I go to. I have tryed to find where it can be disabled in the router but the only link to it will not respond, like it is locked or something. Could something like that be blocking Plex Server from running thinking it is a rouge site?
Well, I’ve tried everything I can think of and the server will not stay running. I can not disable the security features in the router, can not white list anything and they block some websites they think are being deceptive, apparently Plex Server is on their deceptive list also. Even visited BitDefender website and they don’t admit to being on the Netgear router so there is no fix there. I think Netgear must be getting paid to put them in the router as you can subscribe right from the router but you can’t delete it if you don’t subscribe, it just expires. Would appreciate any ideas that might fix the problem before this evening or we’re going to have to watch OTA, haven’t done that for years now. Sufficient it to say, WalMart will be the proud reowner of this router next time I get to the store. Thanks.
Your log files have multiple “database is locked” messages.
Jul 25, 2021 08:47:53.501 [22064] ERROR - Failed to begin transaction (..\Plugins\PluginDatabaseState.cpp:110) (tries=10): Cannot begin transaction. database is locked
See the thread @tom80H linked.
The thread contains download links to new versions to alleviate the problem. Updated builds will be available via the normal methods (plex.tv/download, etc) at some point (reference).
Read the thread before downloading and installing any of the PMS builds. Some users installed the new builds. Others fell back to older versions. Also backup your database before installing any of the hotfix builds.
There really are 840,000 files in the backup?
I pointed you to the wrong location. That backed up the entire data directory, when all you needed was to backup the database. It still worked, you just ended up with a much larger tar/zip/etc file.
The database file is located at /Plug-in Support/Databases/com.plexapp.plugins.library.db inside the Plex data directory.
The process would be:
- Stop Plex Media Server
- Backup the
.../Plug-in Support/Databases/directory - Move the backup out of the Plex data folder
Apologies for the mistake. Hope it did not cause too much trouble.
FYI, the path to the database is listed in the Repair A Corrupted Database support document.
Thanks for the clarification, fortunately it was from and to an SSD so it only took about an hour. Installed your new release and works perfect, good job!
