Server migrated, and then?

Server Version#: 1.41.1.9057

Hi there,

So I did it, I moved my server from my WD PR4100 to a dedicated HW, Everthing’s ok, Libraries are up and populated, previous Plex server is unconnected from my Plex account and switched off, new one is connected to my plex pass account. I have several “managed” accounts and some “friends” accounts.

The status :

  • Connected locally to the (new) server with a browser → everything works

  • Connected remotely to app.plex.tv → everything works

Now it’s the big mess with the connected apps : I have smartphone apps, smart tv’s, android tv, etc that were connected to previous server, and still show the “managed” accounts list at launch. But it looks like al those apps/accounts try to connect previous server.

So simple question, how do I disconnect those apps from old server and reconnect to new one ?

Thanks

There’s a few apps that allow configuring a direct connection, where you specify the server’s IP address. Usually you don’t need that. If your client is signed into the same Plex account, they should also see/connect to the (new) server.

If the new server isn’t showing, please check the More section in the client app’s sidebar. It could be the new server’s library aren’t currently pinned to the sidebar.

Hi Tom,
I investigated client side, and found on the Android and Android TV app, clearing cache did force a reconnection to the new server. Downside, I have no idea how to clear cash on a smart TV …

After reconnection (on android devices), I was able to stream locally and remotely for a while, and then it stopped working. I can now connect to the webGUI, but launching a video drives to the “Something went wrong, retry” screen … I’ll open a new thread for this problem.

[Edit] Found it (about the “something went wrong” problem) : My LXC’s RAM/volume/swap was too small.
