Hi. I have tried searching the forums for a solution to this, but from what I can see my problem is unique. Apologies if I am wrong!
Setup:
-Plex Media Server running on Synology Disk Station
-Plex Pass member
-Pin enabled
-Xbox with Plex app installed running remotely (not on the same network)
Success so far:
-Plex media server runs fine. I have the most up to date version 0.9.12.4 on my NAS
-Plex media server streams fine to my Samsung TV, Mac book air, ipad, iphone. Both on the local network OR remotely.
-Plex server configured for remote access. This has also been enabled for my router and NAS via port forwarding and firewall settings.
Issue:
-When I installed Plex on the xbox I logged on using my Plex username. Went to the Plex website and registered the device using the unique PIN.
-I opened up Plex and it had connected fine with my library. This is a remote connection to my Synology NAS Plex server library.
-I can view all my library, films, music, tv shows etc. Images, details etc.
-When I select a film, TV show or piece of music to play it says….
“Server not available”
“There was an error communicating with your Plex media server, make sure it is turned on and accessible and try again”
Frustrating as it is clearly connected because the entire library shows!
-I have reconnected, restarted, removed and re-downloaded the app etc.
-I have rebooted and reloaded the plex media server. I have even removed it entirely and re downloaded the most recent version etc.
I am stumped! Can someone please help?
