any help please would be usefull
i have had no problems when running win 7 pro but i upgraded with a fresh install up to win 10 pro and now i keep getting the server not powerful enough especially when trying to play mkv files either locally or over web
I don’t think there’s much of an issue with your hardware, as it is more likely the movie files your server is trying to transcode are too large. Even with a good computer, there’s only so much you can do at a particular rate, with an unpredictable bandwidth. I suggest that you measure your bandwidth, and then try viewing with smaller sized files. For example, if you’re trying to view a BRrip 30+GB in size, try 20GB instead.
I dont think file size is a problem as the largest file i have is 2gb and its refusing to transcode a 300mb mkv file , strange thing is it had no problem transcoding them when the pex server was running windows 7
Scratch the prior comment, I forgot you said you upgraded to 10. I know they’ll ask for some logs. But, for sh*ts and giggles, since you WERE running an extremely outdated operating system (I don’t mean that in an insulting way, but in the context of compatibility), perhaps it may be worth noting the sound codecs. For instance, I had issues with RIPS encoded with FLAC audio. You can’t rule out the possible issue that some drivers/dll files, or files that may be considered standard didn’t get changed during the upgrade process.
This made no sense to me, as it plays FLAC albums with no problems, but, there was an issue in regards to video. It probably wouldn’t hurt to update your codecs too.
thanks im updating the drivers at the moment hopefully that will solve the problem ,
ironically the new install of windows 10 came with older drivers than the old install of win 7.
as for prevoiusly running an outdated os , well it worked and i thought why bother its behind 3 firewalls (software and hardware) and only connects through a vpn so it’ll be quite safe. But due to boredom on this lockdown i upgraded old laptops in my house and thought why not do the plex server whilst im on.
ironically i have found no problem using playback through the android app, only when using the web interface on both firefox and chrome
nope ive just updated all my drivers and it has made no difference
any ideas anybody, or is this just a win 10 problem
solved the problem , its the web player, the windows app works fine so does the android one
