Server not powerful enough error

my server is pretty powerful … a new asus g14 … never saw this message until the past few weeks … happens with h264 and h265 on files that ran fine on my old 7 yo server… happens with h264 tv episodes (200mb) … happens on chrome, firefox, edge … happens even if i run directly on the server …

works ok in your windows 10 app and my roku …

Do you have transcoding disabled?

I have the same issue of “This server is not powerful enough to convert video.”. my win 10 was working just fine now the browser doesn’t work. BUT, oddly enough when I use the PLEX APP on my machine it plays just fine. Please help. The browser won’t play any of my files now.

The Plex desktop app can play more types of files than a browse can. Was that particular file something you have played before in your browser. Sam question I asked previously, Do you have video transcoding disabled on server? Would need to see server logs to try to figure out why it thinks it needs to transcode

Same issue here. In my case, old 170mb h.264 480p files are all of a sudden giving me this error when playing on Chrome browser. I say “all of a sudden,” because I’m in mid-season of a few of these old TV series, and had been watching them on the same browser under same exact settings until now. It wasn’t until very recently that some of these shows started giving me errors. Some of these files, when I try to play the same files on my Android phone, gives me a simple “Unable to play media” error. It seems very random to me, since not all shows are acting this way, and seem to play fine.

As for movies, currently all of the h.265 movies give me the same error, even the ones that played perfectly fine before. No issues with h.264 ones.

My biggest question is, why would this be happening all of a sudden when I didn’t change any of my settings recently?

BTW, I’ve reverted my PMS to older 1.24.0 version, and it hasn’t helped. I was on the latest one (1.24.4 I think?) when problems started happening.
