Server not reachable after latest update

Plex just released an update 1.18.0.1944-f2cae8d6b which should resolve the issue. It did for me.

Just updated. It did not help me. Rolling back to 1.17.

Same for me on my WD PR4100 NAS.
Updating to 1.18.0.1944 did not help, but rolling back to 1.17.0.1841 did restore Remote Access.

I just want to give everyone a short update on how it went for me.

So I downgraded to 1.17 and thought it started working, since before I did that, I had no remote access. Interestingly I was receiving “port closed” messages when doing an online port checker. This lead me to have the supplier of our firewall to investigate, however we quickly found that this was also a problem when trying to connect via the local IP (circumventing the firewall).

Downgrading to 1.17 resolved that issue and I thought I was in the clear, but then I started having resource issues. Strangely enough sometimes it was the CPU that spiked, and other times the memory.

I tried multiple versions and even had QNAP support try to help me, but they could not find anything wrong.

I remembered that I ran the latest firmware update on my NAS in addition to upgrading to 1.18, and wondered if it could be a combination of the two.

So I ran a firmware downgrade from 4.4 to 4.3, and upgraded PLEX to 1.18 again. CPU/MEM was normal after that, but had the remote connection issue again.

A combination of 4.3 and 1.17 however, solved all problems and my system has been working problem free now for 24h.

Perhaps someone can look into this further? Personally I am on a TS-453A.

Anyone is this thread successfully upgrade to any version of 1.18 and not see this issue yet?

I will add here:

  1. I have had far too many issues with QTS 4.4.1.1081 and 1101 – downgraded to 4.3.6
  2. Installing any version is fine for me. I’ve not been able to replicate anyone’s issues.

In attempting to figure out that the differences are and might contribute:

  1. Everything is hard wired.
  2. pfSense is my router (modem is a pure modem)
  3. Everything has either a static IP or a DHCP MAC reservation in the pfSense.
  4. Everything is on the same 192.168.0.x subnet.
