Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.25.1.5286-34f965be8-x86
Hello,
After some time without Plex Media Server I try to reinstall it on my Windows 10 machine. Installation seems succesfull, it opens a browser window to the server and then gives the message: “not authorized, you do not have acces to the server”.
Whatever I do, I am unable to access the server. I uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted cookies, cleaned up the harddisk, the registry, etc etc. No joy.
If you do not have any play history, etc to save, then do a complete uninstall of Plex Media Server from your system, including deleting %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server.
Then reboot your system and re-install the current version from plex.tv/downloads.
%LOCALAPPDATA% is usually C:\Users\User_Name\AppData\ and is normally hidden. In Windows Explorer, select the view tab, then check the box next to File Name Extensions to make it visible.
Thank you. I did all that. Several times … Still no joy. %LOCALAPPDATA% has three subfolders: local, local low and roaming. Neither of these (after cleaning and restart) has any plex folder or mention.
I searched the registry and made sure the word "plex*"is not in the windows registry AT_ALL.
I been at this for several day but I am at a loss.
Your web browser may still have certain things stored which pertain to the old server installation, like the configuration of the left side bar. Make sure to delete these, by going to
Settings - Plex Web - ‘Show Adanced’ - Debug and press RESTORE DEFAULTS at the bottom.
You can also opt to erase all cookies of the domain plex.tv from your browser instead.
After deleting all of the above, you basically have to perform a new installation.
So you have to call http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your web browser.
(Make sure you have no VPNs, or browser add-ins, or similar things activated)
Use your browser’s “privacy” or “incognito” mode.
Make sure that the Plex server icon is not present in your task tray. If it still is, close the server with a right-click on its icon and then “Exit”.
Now, double-click on the .reg file in this zip archive: remove_account_creds.zip (364 Bytes)
It will automatically remove all account-related records pertaining to Plex server from your registry.
Afterwards, perform a restart of your machine and try again.
OK. Thanks. As I said I searched the complete Windows complete registry for any Plex references and deleted them.
However.
I made it work. I disabled all adblockers, VPN’s, WireGuard, PiHole, everything. Now it works. So something was stopping something But it seems to be working now
