I would wait for a general release. Just stay on something that works in the meantime. 
Is there a download for the previous version? Library scans notifications keep popping up.

I too had this problem; solved temporarily by downgrading to 1.28.2.6151 (on Mojave, 10.14.6).
Any updates on this? Does v1.29.2.6334-817e19b35 fix the issue? I don’t see anything specific in the release notes. I see the Mac OS requirements discrepancy has been fixed on the downloads page, citing 10.11 or newer. Reading through these forums, looks like most people are having this issue with 10.13 or 10.14. Would upgrading to the latest Mac OS help? I’ve kept this Mac on older Mac OS versions specifically because of PMS, is it now fully compatible with Mac OS 12?
I would REALLY like to know how this happened. I have the same issue as I’m running Mojave on a 2012 Mac Pro (which can’t be updated any further). If this is a macOS issue, fine, but if Plex is the cause of this issue, I’d like to know what is being done to correct it and to prevent it from happening again.
Unfortunately, I’ve been traveling for work and the thought of ripping through this problem on my time off is something I’m dreading. I’d like to know if there’s a fix before I start downgrading, etc.

No it does not from my testing. I could not get it to install cleanly, and I was left with Settings are unavailable.
I have verified that PMS-1.28.2.6151 installs and works as intended on macOS 10.14.6 Mojave on an x64 Mac Mini (2018).
I haven’t tried to downgrade a 1.29.x, but I expect that to work with a certain amount of effort.
As another option, a lot of you can restore your PMS and metadata from Time Machine. If you do this, all the folders and files that PMS uses are
~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server
~/Library/Caches/PlexMediaServer
~/Library/Logs/Plex Media Server
~/Library/Preferences/com.plexapp.plexmediaserver
/Applications/Plex Media Server
It’s a beta, and I believe I read in another thread that MovieFan.Plex did not encounter these errors during QA testing.
I always suggest people don’t change their software after summer unless you can afford to have it malfunction through new years. Folks generally come back from vacation and set things ablaze in September or October when they get randy
Actually, I didn’t install the beta. I know better from past hazardous beta installs to ever mess with them again on Plex. I installed the last known good release of 1.29x.
I just downgraded to 1.28x and Plex Web reverted back, so I can now see the rest of my server settings that went missing after upgrading.
I hope the Plex devs can do the required amount of testing before they relent to user peer pressure and push out versions that aren’t ready for prime time. I want a solid release—if it ain’t ready, don’t release it!
We are still investigating but unsure why some of you are unable to see your server using 1.29.1. Please note that this was in beta for almost a month. We saw a few reports of this, but could not find anything definitive to explain what was going on and felt it was safe for public release.
We did find an issue after the very initial release of 1.29.1 related to crashes on 10.11 and 10.12. This was quickly found and fixed.
With 1.29.2, we did not include anything specific to this issue since we still could not identify the problem. However, 1.29.2 Beta does include a change on how PMS is claimed. This was not in 1.29.1 so we do not think this is the cause, but it may provide a solution. It is possible something in 1.29.1 is preventing your server from being claimed properly (even if it was already claimed).
For those having issue, please try the following from your Mac.
- update PMS to 1.29.2 Beta
- on the Mac menu bar, click on the PMS icon
- select “Open Plex”
Here is where it may change. If your server was somehow not claimed properly:
- you will be taken to plex.tv indicating that PMS wants to sign into your account
- make sure it is the correct Plex account and sign-in
If that is not the case and clicking “Open Plex” just goes to Plex Web, there is still an issue and we will need to continue investigating. Please provide me your PMS logs after performing the above.

I’ve just installed 1.29.2 from 1.29.1 and still have the “Server Settings are unavilable” as well. The Open Plex … just displayed the Plex logo in Safari - I had to make Chrome the default browser and it opened, I logged in and still have the issue.
It’s difficult to grab the logs as I’ll have to do it manually.
Is there anywhere I can send them rather than posting on here ?

I’ve shown to myself that 1.28.2.6151 and 1.29.0.6244 work on macOS 10.14.6.
However, I cannot install from scratch 1.29.1.6316 or 1.29.2.6334 and reported that on the forum.
I upgraded a working 1.29.0.6244 to 1.29.2.6334 as requested by quitting PMS and dropping the new version into /Applications.
After sign-in inside Private Mode Safari, I am taken to my web app home screen.
Clicking on Settings → My Mac PMS gets me Settings are unavailable.
The same unavailable appears if I use Plex for Mac.

After days of troubleshooting this issue, I updated my Mini server from Mojave to Catalina and it all works fine now even the latest release of Plex. Hope this helps…

There are going to be a lot of unhappy Plex users when Plex upgrades wont run past High Sierra. There are millions of Mac’s that can not be upgraded past this point, and the cost of moving to a AMD spec’d iMac is not cheap. Im guessing most of us are using an older iMac or Mac Mini as our server. Im hoping Plex will support to High Sierra for a while yet…

Im using an 2012 Mac mini Quad Core i7 running 10.13 with this exact problem. Going back to 1.27/1.28 fixes the problem for me.
Please fix what ever change has been done that now requires a newer macOS as like others have said most Mac server owners are going to be on older macOS/hardware.

No thanks. I downgraded to 1.28x and I’ll stay there until beta testing on a “final“ release is finished. 
I agree with what was mentioned above. People run Plex on older Macs that are on the verge of, if not already, being considered obsolete. I’ll eventually have to abandon my 2012 Mac Pro because Plex won’t run on Mojave (the end of the macOS line for that model), and the four drive bays that house my media library.
If the devs could make a version without all of the bells and whistles (crap like music services and streaming platforms) and allow it to work without direct internet access, it would help those that flocked to Plex in the first place—to watch their own media.
