I can no longer access my server settings after updating. Does someone have a fix for this?
Same issue with me. I tried logging out and back in but still can’t access server settings.
I have the problem too (macos 10.11.x) upgraded yesterday, but now I can’t find the server version anywhere.
How can I downgrade since I can’t find anything approaching “server updates” etc.
And, if a new update will fix this – how will I be able to update since I can’t find “server/check-updates” anywhere…???
I have the same problem on Mac OS 10.14.4, had to downgrade Plex Server to Version 1.29.0.6244-819d3678c to get it to work. Would be nice if this was a recognized issue and patched soon. Thanks
Same problem MAC OS X 10.11.6. Any updates on this issue?
Same on Mac OS 10.13.6. Downgrading to 1.29.0.6244-819d3678c resolved it for me as well.
After updating to 1.29.1.6316 I also received the “Server settings are unavailable” error. Downgrading back to 1.29.0.6244 fixed things. Will wait for a fix before upgrading again.
How do I downgrade, please?
is it possible to get your server logs. also 4.87.2 would be the local web app, does it do the same on app.plex.tv
A new server (Mac) came out today (9 November) and I got it installed (via the AppleTV app). When I go to my Plex server via Safari, clicking the “settings” icon that used to allow me to do things like check for updates on the server, now still only shows “Plex Web”…
So, if you’d like me to get you server logs, I’ll have to figure out how to do that – but is there no longer a way for me to get the older plex server pages??? OR were you asking someone else for their server logs???
We have a good understanding of how to downgrade and what works on older Macs now. So let’s get you Plexing in time for

First off Logs
I doubt they still need them because a fix is being crafted, but this is how to zip your logs and drop them into Downloads in any case. Quit PMS then
cd ~/Downloads && zip -rj "Plex Media Server Logs_$(date '+%Y-%m-%d_%H-%M-%S')" ~/Library/Logs/"Plex Media Server"
Fixing your Mac
Basic Downgrading
Quit PMS. Drop the different version in /Applications and Replace.
Advanced Downgrading for you
If basic mode doesn’t work, and you probably tried it I’m guessing, then you need to move on to advanced downgrading. I posted How To Sign Out PMS on a MAC, Downgrade, and Reclaim where you can find the exact steps. Take care while you do it, and you’ll be up pretty soon.™
Notes
Always work closely with any Plex folk like BigWheel when they stop bye.
Again sorry to hear it’s frustrating. So post any questions, and good luck!
Thanks… After I asked “how to downgrade” I went looking for older Mac server files to download. I tried and tried and tried, but all I could find was the most recent one ONLY.
So, the first level query: how do I find older versions?
(And, since I can no longer “see” the PMS in my browser, the only version number I seem to find is that of “Plex Web” – so how do I find the current PMS version number too please?)
(I’ve been using PMS for AGES and don’t remember it ever being this hard – it’s "made so simple now that anything out of the day-to-day-regular-stuff seems a huge challenge).
I hear you it can be difficult. So I included everything in the link.
Great question. When the Player has no access, you need
To find the PMS version on a MAC using the command line
open Launchpad → Other → Terminal and paste this
defaults read "/Applications/Plex Media Server.app/Contents/Info.plist" CFBundleVersion
Yes sir. A few things happened since mid-year. Fingers crossed the fix is just a matter of following the steps I gave you guys.
sorry, life got in the way of responding…
At this moment it responds: 1.30.0.6486
I hate to ask so late now, but what version of PMS should I try to downgrade TO so that it won’t keep showing me " Plex Web—General" instead of all of the server settings?
Thanks
Good news I think, try the latest stable that should contain fixes for Mac and settings unavailable.
Interesting… When I did an about the PMS, that IS now the version installed. Going to the tool-icon on the upper right it still shows Plex Web General, BUT clicking on the left “Settings/General” it now DOES show the settings for the server!!! A different way to get to it, and it won’t seem at all obvious (since clicking on tools doesn’t show it), but it is there … eventually.
Woo Hoo and thanks @nibbles
