Server settings are unavailable

Server Version#: 1.28.0.5999
Player Version#: 4.84.1

recently i updated my plex server and i changed the drive it uses by setting LocalAppDataPath

i saw instructions later that said i was supposed to copy my old files over to the new path, i hadn’t done that. i assumed it was going to just rebuild them. the old files are gone.

now i get “Server settings are unavailable.” if i try to see any of my settings via: http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#!/settings/server/6116b07f6141fe8b65d2fc4d6f877b048d65f68e/settings/general

other things like dashboard are working fine in the local webapp and my server is showing remote access with a green check box

i have done both a repair install and an uninstall/reinstall and still have this problem

thanks
Keith

Have you already tried:

  1. stopping your server
  2. copy the old server data directory to the assigned target location and wait for it to finish
  3. restart your server

?
Basically you’re still at some bad state of configuration and have to move your data to the new place…

i permanently deleted the original data after i changed the data path and thought it had come up without error. then i did a repair install and a uninstall/reinstall when that didn’t work, restarting the server as needed.

i need to make plex reinstall / recreate these directories and data. i assumed this would have happened when i uninstalled / re-installed.

repairing an install or uninstall/reinstall have nothing to do with that… that’s just Windows attempting to check basic installation features (nothing about the app or its data).

If you want to fully start over, getting rid of all remnants of a previous installation, make sure to use this guide:
