I’ve just installed the 1.16.7.1574-4215f2c66-x86_64 to do some test with the new transcoding preview… I am using Synology NAS. But, I am getting the “Server Settings unavailable” every time that I want to go to the server setting. What should I do now?
Also using Synology NAS.
PMS was working fine until I updated to 1.16.6.1559-a71394a45, but now I’m getting “Server settings are unavailable.” as well (for every item under the “Settings” section - i.e. General/Remote Access/Agents/Library/etc.)
Tried connecting through Safari/Chrome… tried incognito, etc.
No idea, but a quick Google search seems to indicate this has been happening to others for quite some time (years) now, and I cannot find an easy solution
you are right… that version is broken too. I’ve just installed it and I am getting the same message “Server settings are unavailable”. Reverting to the older version PlexMediaServer-1.16.5.1554-1e5ff713d-x86_64 that it works.
I have the same problem, but can’t downgrade… @OttoKerner any tips? I’m on Synology NAS btw.
Synology users:
did you read (and act on it)?
Yes, I’ve been running 1.16 for long. Can’t be related to this. I did go through that guide though, and everything is as it should be. Still, server settings are not available. It started being a problem the second I upgraded to 1.16.6.1559-a71394a45. I’ve tried downgrading, but it won’t let me do that.
Using 1.16.5.1554, I don’t have problem. Using 1.16.6.1559, I do. If the changes started with 1.15.4.994 , then any 1.16 should not work, or am I wrong?
You need to uninstall first the current version. Then, you can install a previous version
I’ve also got this problem, movies can’t be matched also.
Yeah update PlexMediaServer-1.16.6.1559-a71394a45-x86_64 borked something huge on my server. Hope I’ve not lost any data. I’ve checked Security Settings on shared folders and all the settings are correct. I’ve been running on 1.16 for a long time also.
Hope a fix is in the works, thanks
Version 1.16.6.1559 is still in Beta. So it is always a risk if you install it. It will probably be fixed before it goes Public.
For me the Same. Previous version worked without any problem. Updated today to the ne one. So now waiting for the next update. Hopefully they fix it.
On Synology, it is easy to access the Plex logs by using FileStation.
Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs.
Please right-click “Logs” in FileStation, “Compress to Logs.zip” (give your username R/W to the share if needed).
Attach that ZIP file here.
Unfortunately - as a life pass subscriber - I updated to 1.16.6.1559. Same error here: Server settings unavailable
Same here. Let me know if you need log files.
Logs.zip (3.2 MB)
Thank you for the logs.
What I am seeing is an apparent failed / partial installation.
Would you please:
- Uninstall the package
- Restart DSM
- Reinstall the package.
- Start after installation
- Wait 2 minutes
- Gather the logs again.
Will I lose my settings?
No. I maintain the software in /volume1/@appstore/Plex Media Server
Your settings and metadata are maintained in /volume1/Plex (default)
Same issue. Upon updating. Unable to access settings and matching does not work.
I don’t have the previous version to revert too. Stuck waiting on a fix.
I attempted your uninstall instructions, Nothing changed.
