Problem setting up HDHomeRun for DVR

Have been trying out Plex on my new DS1018+ for a couple of months with an HDHomeRun tuner (HDHR3-US). This weekend it missed a couple of recordings, and when I checked Plex could not find the tuner. I deleted it and tried again, but it can’t find it either by searching or by the (correct) IP address. I downloaded the latest HDHomeRun software, which upgraded the firmware, scanned all the channels and works fine. Still no love. Then I tried the latest Plex server version but this caused the “server settings unavailable” issue so I backed out to 1.16.5.1554. Still have the same issue - HDHomeRun is up and running but Plex on DSM can’t find it. Restarted Plex, tried again (failed) and downloaded log files (attached).

Help?

Edit: looks like some bad stuff going on ending in ‘marking as dead’

  • Server and HDHomeRun on same Gigabit switch
  • Rebooted everything
  • IP is correct - takes me to the HDHomeRun main menu
  • HDHomeRun software works fine - scans, tunes
  • Same issue on Plex server

If it’s an HDHomeRun issue, it’s one that only Plex seems to notice.

I will say that I swapped in a new Netgear switch two days before I noticed the issue. But as I said, device works fine with HDHomeRun software.

I went to test with an old switch, and figured out the issue. When I swapped in the new switch I only connected one of the Synology Ethernet cables, and apparently the connection to the HDHomeRun only goes over one path. So when I connected the second Ethernet port, Plex can find it again.

Goes to show, it’s usually related to the thing that changed…
